Question: Quintilian believes that there should be a father and son relationship between teacher and student. How do you think this might affect the process for helping develop oration skills? Would this affect the speech skills of a student learning today if they were taught this way?
I think that his ides behind this concept are very similar to the ideas that Plato presented about individuals needing guidance their quest for knowledge or truth. However, having such a close relationship as a teacher and student while trying to objectively inform them on the qualities of a good speaker seems a little difficult to do and might be too vague of a concept.
